2009 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle Gold Coin Specifications


The Ultra High Relief Double Eagle Gold Coin is based on the original design of Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The coins were digitally recreated based on the original plasters with some updates to bring the coin into the twenty first century.

The first coins were struck on November 24, 2008 at the West Point Mint. One coin was presented to the Smithsonian and the other remains in possession of the United States Mint. Full scale production began several weeks later.
